Your Sprinkler System Electrical Components
  • Sprinkler controller  - The main control box that sends out signals to start and stop watering cycles. There are often times where you'll need to replace this controller entirely when problems arise. Located mostly in the garage, likely near a power outlet, and close to the valve box that is buried outside in your lawn or garden.

  • Wire nuts  - They attach wires together without any solder (which is usually used when connecting two copper wires). These connections are usually watertight, however, with heating and cooling of the seasons, they sometimes loosen, causing a break in the connection.

  • Oftentimes wires will corrode due to changing weather conditions causing connection issues. This can cause your irrigation system to not function properly. Zones may get stuck open resulting in overwatering an area but the most common issue with electrical issues is certain zones will not turn on at all or even intermittently.
